You Fail At Parenting

Hahaha, FAIL:
A 46-year-old Geneseo woman pleaded not guilty Monday to charges that she encouraged her 15-year-old daughter to have sexual intercourse with an 18-year-old man.

The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus are not naming the woman, who is charged with permitting the sexual abuse of a child, to protect the victim's identity.

During a preliminary hearing Monday in Henry County Circuit Court, Geneseo Police Officer Chase Schwigen testified before Judge Larry Vandersnick the incidents allegedly happened in April and May.

Officer Schwigen testified the victim told him she was "making out" with the 18-year-old in her mother's apartment during one incident. The mother told them to go into a bedroom and have sex, he said he was told.

On another occasion, the daughter told Officer Schwigen, the mother locked her in the bedroom with the 18-year-old and tied a rope across the door so they couldn't get out.

Officer Schwigen testified the mother also condoned other sexual acts between the two, reportedly because she wanted grandchildren.

If convicted of the charge, the woman could face four to 15 years in prison, or four years probation.

A trial has tentatively been set for the week of July 30.

Judge Vandersnick ordered a mental evaluation for the woman. She was in the Henry County Jail late Monday on $100,000 bail.
Do I even need to comment on this? The funniest part is that it was the daughter who turned the mother in. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? The kids want to have sex and the parents try to stop them? It's just sad when the kids are more responsible than their parents. I guess this just goes to show that, no matter what it is, if the parents want it, their teen-aged children will automatically be diametrically opposed to it.

I think this woman, who remains to be named, could qualify for "Loser of the Week" even though no one involved died, save for the hope of her adolescent daughter giving her a grandchild. She certainly is a loser.
